COMBINED IDOL OF RADHA AND KRISHAN JI
Hey all,
Do you know there is no bell in the Banke Bihari temple and also no aarti is performed in the early morning why?
So as you already know that in this article I am going to share the history and some interesting facts about the Shri Banke Bihari temple which is in Mathura.
The temple is situated in the town of Vrindavan, Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh India. Shri Banke Bihari temple is the holiest and the most famous Temple of Radha Krishan in the world. The idol which is present in the temple is the combined idol of Krishan and Radha. so let’s find what is the story behind the statue.
Sangeet Samrat Tansen’s guru Swami Haridas Ji was an exclusive devotee of Lord Shri Krishna. He dedicated his music to God. Sitting in Nidhivan, the Rasasthali of Shri Krishna located in Vrindavan, he used to woo God with his music.
Whenever Haridas Ji sat down to sing songs, he would get absorbed in the devotion of God and Shri Krishna would appear in front of him. One time his disciple said that you keep seeing Shri Krishna alone, join us too with Shri Krishna.
After this Haridas Ji started singing bhajans by drowning in the devotion of Shri Krishna. The duet of Radha Krishna appeared and suddenly there was a change in the tone of Haridas Ji started singing-
“भाई री सहज जोरी प्रकट भई, जुरंग की गौर स्याम घन दामिनी जैसे। प्रथम है हुती अब हूं आगे हूं रहि है न टरि है तैसे।। अंग अंग की उजकाई सुघराई चतुराई सुंदरता ऐसे। श्री हरिदास के स्वामी श्यामा पुंज बिहारी सम वैसे वैसे।”
After that Shri Krishna and Radha Ji expressed the wish to stay with Haridas Ji, On that Haridas Ji, said Lord, I am a saint, I will bring dhoti for you, but how will I bring the jewelry of the mata?
Hearing the words of the devotee, Shri Krishna smiled and the pair of Radha-Krishna united and appeared in a Deity form. Haridas Ji named this Deity Banke Bihari.
Shri Banke Bihari Ji was being served by Swamiji for a long time in NidhiVana itself. Then when the construction work of the temple was completed, they were brought there and installed.
There are many interesting and real facts about the temple and out of those the one which I found surprised is that
Once early in the morning, Swamiji saw that someone was sleeping on his bed. When Swami Ji is going to check who is sleeping on his bed, suddenly the little boy gets up and runs away. But they left, keeping their chuda and Vanshi on the bed.
After this, when the priest of Shri Banke Bihariji temple opened the doors of the temple, he did not see the chuda and Vanshi of Shri Banke Bihari Ji. But the door of the temple was closed. Surprised, the priest came to Swamiji in Nidhivan and told him everything to Swamiji. Swamiji said that in the morning someone was sleeping on my bed. He has left something while leaving. Then the priest directly saw that the chuda-vanshi of Shri Banke Bihari Ji was sitting on the bed. This proves that Shri Banke Bihari Ji goes to Nidhivan to do Raas Leela at night.
For this reason, Mangla-Aarti of Shri Bihari Ji is not done in the morning. Reason — Bihari Ji comes here after doing Raas Leela the night. Due to this, it is believed that they get tired due to waking up late at night and waking up late in the morning.
And similarly, it is believed that small children were troubled by the loud sound of the bell, due to which no bell has been installed in the temple. In Shri Banke Bihari Ji Temple, Banke Bihari Ji is kept as a small child. Standing all day causes pain in his feet, so he is massaged daily before the temple is closed.
Similarly, many beliefs are related to Shri Banke Bihari Ji established in the temple. And yes, the most important thing is that there is a curtain in front of the idol of Shri Banke Bihari Ji in the temple, which the priests keep opening and closing the whole day. It has been said and seen many times that whoever sees Shri Banke Bihari Ji in his eyes with a true heart, Shri Banke Bihari Ji walks with him.
I have heard this many times when in Mathura a small child insists on going with someone unknown and the idol disappears from the temple after that, the priests of the temple begged him to call him back and that child goes missing and the idol comes back.
I am a great devotee of Shri Krishna and I have gone one time to Shri Banke Bihari ji’s temple but because of too much crowd could not see the idol of Shri Banke Bihari Ji.
I can say with certainty that after reading all this, you must be very much like to go to Mathura and yes if you go, then also visit Nidhivan.
Nidhivan which is also situated in Mathura is the forest of tulsi and is a sacred forest site of Vrindavan. There is a small temple in Nidhivan named Rang Mahal. On a daily basis, for Krishna and Radha ji, their toothbrush, their bed, their makeup items are kept and when they are seen the next day it is found to be completely scattered, It is said that Krishna Radha ji comes there every night.
There is no sighting of any animal or bird post 7 PM either because it is said that they elope from the area as well. Not just this, but Nidhivan has a unique surrounding. It is flanked by unusual hollow trees that are short heightened and the branches are twisted downwards and lie in tangles.
It is said that whoever goes to see Radha and Krishna ji at night to see Nidhivan or tries to hide behind the trees to see them He either loses his mental balance or becomes blind or dies.
