Only one day left for the biggest festival of not only Bihar but also Uttar Pradesh, Nepal, Jharkhand, and many more. The festival is observed to worship the sun and his wife Usha and seek blessing from both of them for the well-being and happiness of the family.

how many of you know that Chhath puja first did by Mata Sita in Munger, Bihar?

After returning from 14 years of vanvas to Ayodhya Shri Ram and Mata Sita observed a fast in the honor of sun god. Chhath celebration is popular in the Munger region for being related to Seta Manpatthar (Sita Charan, or Sita’s Footsteps).

In the Munger Sita charan, the temple is situated in the middle Ganga, known as the primary place of the Chhath festival.

Sita Mata started the ritual of Chhath puja, and it is also believed that Draupadi and the Pandavas performed a Puja similar to Chhath puja to win their lost kingdom back.

Chhath pooja is celebrated in the holy month of Kartik. People offer prayers to the Sun God, observe fasts, take dips into the water of rivers, and follow rituals related to eating that encourage prudence and self-restraint among Chhath Vratees.

Even though the Chhath Pooja celebration is not observed in my home, I always find a way to participate in the ceremonies since I love it so much.

There are other beliefs as well, but the one that makes the celebration more pleasurable is the trust and faith we have in God.

From which place you are celebrating chhath puja this year?
